Project Partnerships Tonga

Tonga is a developing country with a well-developed management infrastructure in most areas.  If we provide the goods, they have professionals in place who can use them.  Some of the equipment we can supply will allow them to step-up to the next level of care.  It has a small population just over 100,000 so everything we do has a major impact.  The respect for Rotary is amazing.  It’s a Kingdom and we have a direct connection with the Royal Family.  We have an excellent direct connection with many of the Cabinet Ministers.  We also have a very strong connection with the High Commission.

There are opportunities for Rotary Clubs to become partners in the next stage of the project.

Dental Projects PP Dr David Goldsmith and his team have been visiting regularly for the last 25 years.  They are effectively part of the dental infrastructure. This project will continue to support the existing facilities with equipment and supplies and to assist establishing new dental clinics. Read more

Medical Projects We have a close connection with St John of God Hospital Ballarat who have been running a Twining Project with Vaiola Hospital for 30 years.  Both groups work independently, but with their much greater medical experience we rely on St John of God to priorities the goods shipped.

School Projects Is a relatively new area. In September 2022 working with the school alumni, we established Dental Clinics and up graded the sick bay in the three major Colleges in the country.  We are now starting to work on school furniture.

  • Apifo’ou College: Ongoing support for the Dental Clinics and Sickbays.  Provide 180 sets of desks and chairs for the primary school classrooms. Read more
  • Queen Salote College: Ongoing support for the Dental Clinics and Sickbays.  Additional library books for the library we helped to equip and fit out in September 2022. Also upgrading the sickbay in the residential section of the school.            Read more
